Photograph: Noah Berger/AP Last month, a relentless heatwave hit the state that helped fuel the fires and caused so much air pollution that it seeped indoors, prompting stores across California to sell out of air purifiers. The climate crisis is fueling the fires, scientists say, with rising temperatures causing the amount of land burned in the US west to double since the 1980s. Human-caused heating of the atmosphere is drying out vegetation and soils, creating tinderbox-like conditions for fires. A century of fire suppression in Californian forests has also caused a buildup of material to burn. Mike Flannigan, who directs the Canadian Partnership for Wildland Fire Science at Canada's University of Alberta, says the escalation of fires in California and the US west is "largely, not solely, due to human-caused climate change". "Temperature is really important to fire. Temperature is key. The warmer it is, the longer the fire season, " he said.
In 2016, the solar industry employed more than 260, 000 people, including jobs in solar installation, manufacturing, and sales, a 25% increase over 2015 [ 12]. The hydroelectric power industry employed approximately 66, 000 people in 2017 [ 13]; the geothermal industry employed 5, 800 people [ 14]. Increased support for renewable energy could create even more jobs. The 2009 Union of Concerned Scientists study of a 25-percent-by-2025 renewable energy standard found that such a policy would create more than three times as many jobs (more than 200, 000) as producing an equivalent amount of electricity from fossil fuels [ 15]. In contrast, the entire coal industry employed 160, 000 people in 2016 [ 26]. In addition to the jobs directly created in the renewable energy industry, growth in clean energy can create positive economic "ripple" effects. For example, industries in the renewable energy supply chain will benefit, and unrelated local businesses will benefit from increased household and business incomes [ 16].

Reviewed October 19, 2020 via mobile Wanted tamales and found good reviews for Lupita's and it was close so decided to try. It was a Saturday at lunch time and the line was out the door. Since do not speak or read Spanish, just ordered 6 chicken tamales and 6 pork... tamales. Agree with some reviews that it had a lot of Mesa but chicken had good flavor and was a little spicy. Preferred the pork. Liked them so much we went back two weeks later, on another Saturday, and the line was to the road. But doesn't take long to get to counter to order your food. Decided to expand our horizons and tried the Asado burrito (pork filling) and more pork tamales. The burrito was stuffed full of meat, the tortilla shell was charred perfectly, soft and fresh. Will get again. The tamales didn't have as much Mesa this time and were once again good. Also got the pork rinds but really didn't care for them. Glad only got a half a pound. Too hard and crunchy. Parking is cramped, especially at lunch time on Saturday, and my daughter has a big truck so last time we parked at Auto Zone next door.
